Best Adapted Screenplay

Corey: She's preggers!  It's going to ruin her career. Never again will she have the body she did. PRO-CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

James McAvoy can call me a Cunt any day.

I predict: No Country For Old Men (My favorite movie of the year. I have the book but haven't read it yet. I know it ends with the line "And then I woke up.")

Won: NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited. Could this be the second of many?

Andy: A pregnant Jessica Alba -- who can't act her way out of a paper bag if you ask me -- is presenting.  Actually, she's not.  She talked about presenting at the Science and Technology Oscars.

Also, Corey just informed me that Cate Blanchett being nominated for playing a man is NOT the first time it's happened.  It happened as recently as Felicity Huffman's nomination in TRANSAMERICA.

But now we have presenters Josh Brolin and James McAvoy...  presenting... Best Adapted Screenplay.  I predict... THERE WILL BE BLOOD.  Just to go up against Corey's prediction (we're gonna add up who got the most right afterward).  And it's the only one I actually read.

And the Oscar goes to... Joel and Ethan Coen for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.

Corey won.  ...This time.

Best Supporting Actress

Andy: I predict Cate Blanchett for playing Bob Dylan in I'M NOT THERE.  Excellent performance.  Might be the first time a woman is nominated for playing a man?  Or might be if she wins.  Amy Ryan was so not present for me in GONE BABY GONE.  I just watched that today for the first time.  I love Tilda Swinton but I didn't see MICHAEL CLAYTON.  "This is a revolution of the mind!"

And the Oscar goes to... whoa, Tilda Swinton for MICHAEL CLAYTON!  She doesn't believe it herself!  This is kind of an upset.  She's giving the Oscar to her agent?  I'd only give 10% of the statue.

Corey: I really have no idea. I mean, I've heard things. Let's see. I haven't seen all of the films. Just I'm Not There, Michael Clayton and Atonement.

I predict: Cate Blanchett (she really was phenomenal in I'm Not There...Ruby Dee is old though. She might get it)

Won:  Tilda Swinton

I can't believe it. This might mean that Michael Clayton will pick up some things it shouldn't (i.e, this award). She's trying to make a speech that will be memorable.

Best Animated Short Film

Corey: Predict: Madam Tootly Pootly (sounds like a good time)

Win: Peter and The Wolf

Well...lets hope they can speak English.

Andy: PETER AND THE WOLF for me.  And it won.  Booyah.

I could give a shit.

Best Live Action Short Film

Andy: Owen Wilson's back in the spotlight.  He was nominated for co-writing THE ROYAL TENENMBAUMS if you remember.

I predict... THE SUBSTITUTE.

And the Oscar goes to... THE MOZART OF PICKPOCKETS.

Oh God, Jerry Seinfeld as a bee... wasting our time with bee clips.  Please show THE 'BURBS.  They didn't.  Waste of time.

Corey: You know it really speaks to his character that he can get up there and present when he tried to kill himself less than a year ago. It really speaks to his character.

I predict: The Tonto Woman (sounds hot)

Win: Something I can't pronounce nor spell.

He doesn't speak English and he's a bad student. There's hope for us ALL!

Raise it Up (AUGUST RUSH)

Corey: Let me guess. I won't really care for it. I only like Robin Williams in comedy and even then he gets on my nerves sometimes. Keri looks pretty though. She was great in Waitress.

I like the Gospel feel. Oh wait. Maybe I do like it. I had no clue. Won't win though.

Andy: Jon's back with a salute to binoculars and telescopes.  And bad dreams.

"Wow.  That really would've been a waste of your time."

Keri Russell is here with a song from AUGUST RUSH.  I don't like this song, either.

Best Supporting Actor

Andy: Is this really a contest?  It's Javier Bardem all the way.  Go ahead.  Call it.

And the Oscar goes to... Javier Bardem for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.

Called it.

Corey: Jennifer is my goddess. I love everything about her. She will always have a special place in my heart. And she's one of the only women that I would have sex with (weird I know)

I predict: Javier Bardem (I loved him in this film. If I met him on the street I'd run the other way)

Winner:  WOOOOOOO! Jennifer said Arscar but I don't care. Go Javier!!!! (so is it 3 out of 5 now?)

Best Art Direction

Corey: I so often forget that she is Austrailian.

I predict: Atonement

Winner:  Sweeney Todd

I'm sorry but it has been done before. But I guess the same could be said for Atonement as they are both set in the PAST.

Andy: Best Art Direction is a tricky thing.  The wilder it is, the "better" it is.  I'd have to go with SWEENEY TODD.

And it won!

Best Visual Effects

Andy: The Rock is presenting!  Yes, the star of SOUTHLAND TALES (great movie, in my crazed opinion).

I predict... TRANSFORMERS.  Hated it, but it probably had the best visual effects.  And the most man-hours put into it.

Ohh, it's THE GOLDEN COMPASS instead.  Didn't see that coming.  Didn't see the movie, either...

Corey: Why the fuck is he there? He's trying to be funny but its lost on me. I haven't seen Indiana Jones (sorry Andy).

I Predict: Transformers (Pirates might win but hey, I saw this with Michael Bay and Josh Duhamel)

Won: The Golden Compass

Didn't see it. I'm glad I didn't see it still.

Happy Working Song (ENCHANTED)

Corey: I love her. The movie was great for what it was. I still think that Falling Slowly should win. The Enchanted songs will split the vote and Marketa and Glen will take it.

Andy: I don't like this song.

Best Make Up

Corey: I love her beyond reason. Get away from Grey's as soon as your contract is up.

I predict: La Vie en Rose (the movie was great...no one is voting for fucking Norbit)

The winner: La Vie En Rose (hey 2 outta 3 ain't bad)

Andy: Tracy Riddle Katherine Heigl is all jittery presenting.  They put the music on the creator of TOY STORY!  How dare they.

(Corey and I are correcting typos as we go along.  Gettin' there.)

I predict... NORBIT.  Why the hell not?

LA VIE EN ROSE wins.  Ahh, they put the music on the winners for that, too.
